Her Voice privacy policy

Her Voice is an iPhone voice journal. You record a thought or conversation; Her Voice writes, lightly polishes, titles, and keeps it as a journal moment. This policy covers both the app and the marketing website at joinhervoice.com.

Short version: Her Voice is not an offline or on-device-only product. Recordings and journal text are sent to Her Voice infrastructure and service providers so Her Voice can write, polish, organize, and sync your journal. Do not record anything you would not want processed by those services.

Who we are

Her Voice ("we," "us," or "our") provides an iPhone voice journal that turns user-initiated recordings into written, titled, searchable journal moments and supports related features such as Ask, conversation details, sharing, and account-backed sync.

How the app works

When you start a recording, Her Voice records audio and sends it through Her Voice systems and service providers for speech recognition, light polishing, titling, and related journal features. The resulting journal moment is saved on your device and may be synced to your account. If you request conversation details, audio may also be processed to identify voices, key points, and next steps.

Audio and text processing

Your audio and journal text may be sent to service providers that help power Her Voice. We use providers for speech recognition, writing and polishing, conversation details, infrastructure, authentication, analytics, and account sync. Current providers may include xAI, Google Gemini, AssemblyAI, Clerk, PostHog, Railway, and their infrastructure providers.

We try to choose providers and product designs that respect user data, but Her Voice is not private in the sense that audio and text stay only on your device. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and terms, and we cannot independently guarantee every aspect of its data handling.

What may be stored on your device

Your journal moments, linked recordings, settings, preferences, and diagnostic data may be stored locally on your device or in the shared app container.
Your account, settings, subscription status, and journal data may be synced with Her Voice systems.
In-progress and retained recordings may be stored on your device to protect against processing failures and support later conversation details. Local storage is bounded and may remove older retained audio.

What we do not do in the app

We do not sell your personal data.
We do not collect the IDFA for advertising.
We do not continuously listen; audio recording begins only when you deliberately start it.
We do not access your contacts, photos, or location as part of the core product.

Microphone and speech permissions

Her Voice requires microphone access because recording is the core of the product. It may also request Apple speech-recognition permission to provide a live preview or degraded fallback. Apple speech recognition is not the primary processing path.

App analytics

The app may use product analytics to understand reliability and feature usage. Those analytics are intended to help us improve the product, not build advertising profiles. Audio and journal text may be processed to deliver journal features, diagnostics, abuse prevention, and reliability, depending on the feature and provider involved.

Website analytics and advertising measurement

The marketing website at joinhervoice.com uses Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement tags. This is different from the app itself.

On the website, we may collect information such as:

Page views, scroll depth, and on-page interactions
Clicks to the App Store
Campaign parameters such as utm_source, utm_campaign, gclid, gbraid, and wbraid
Browser and device information that analytics tools typically receive

We use this information to evaluate marketing performance, reduce spend on low-intent traffic, and understand which visitors behave more like likely paying users.

Cookies and browser storage on the website

The website and its analytics tools may use cookies, local storage, or similar browser technologies to remember campaign attribution and measure visits. These technologies help us connect ad clicks with later website actions such as viewing pricing or clicking through to the App Store.

Payments and subscriptions

Payments are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not process your credit card information directly. Transaction identifiers and subscription status may be reported to Her Voice systems so the app can verify access, sync entitlement state, support users, and respond to App Store Server Notifications.

Children's privacy

Her Voice is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address it.

Retention

Journal moments remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app, subject to local storage behavior. Account-backed sync may store copies with Her Voice systems until they are deleted under available product or support processes. Retained audio on the device is storage-bounded and older audio may be removed automatically. Provider-side retention depends on the providers used to process requests. Website analytics and advertising records are retained according to the policies and settings of those platforms.

Your choices

You can stop using the app and delete it at any time.
You can clear local website storage and browser cookies through your browser settings.
You can use ad blocking or privacy tools that limit analytics and advertising measurement on the website, though some measurements may stop working as intended.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and website evolve. If we do, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
